For all intensive purposes I'm in a southeast Delhi suburb across the Yamuna ( yo mama? eh) river. It's a developing/sprawling area that is gobbling the less developed/ barren, areas here. It started as a planned industrial area, sort of a sequel to an industrial area of Delhi called Okhla, thus: New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (noida, get it? wow). I shouldn't knock. I thought it was bad ass when I found out EPCOT stood for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. Anyways, it's still industrial, but the IT thing has taken hold as well, which is why I'm here, holed up in this sort of oasis on the edge of town, the ATS Greens. It's very nice and the landscaping in between the buildings is really amazing. This area seems to be known as the future home of a place referred to as "Greater Noida", and though it appears things are happening, at this point very little has actually been completed besides some office complexes and a handful of condos. The new condos going up next to ATS are currently surrounded by bamboo scaffolding. There are no platforms so the workers just balance on the bamboo as he brick and stucco these huge buildings. scary. The way the bamboo gives and bends really blows my mind.

barren view from my window and new construction next door.
Here in Noida everything is divided into sectors. I live in sector 128. The mall and major markets are in sector 18. The office is in sector 58. Very creative names for areas. My suggestion was that they should take out corporate sponsorships. I'm only half kidding. Talking about areas of town by numbers is really weird. I don't know if our grab bag naming (OakDale, River Wood, BriarCreek) is any better, but it's just strange. like a video game or science fiction movie. increases the blade runner factor.
Anyways here's a little map to play with. Central Delhi marker is in the upper left hand corner and where i am staying is in the shadow of the lower right hand corner marker.

That scaffolding looks knarley. Definitely not OSHA certified.
Seriously. It curves back and forth. I just read about some African countries using bamboo as scaffolding. Perhaps something similar is happening?
