On Wednesday night after (late again) we, meaning Vinod, followed Dalvir to his apartment. His wife (lokerenda i think) had prepared a wonderful meal that seemed suspiciously un-spicy. I think they were taking it easy on us. Full spread. soup, mains, and yummy desert of ground carrots (which are red here) boiled with sugar and milk. super deeelish.
They had a nice apartment that they said they didn't want to decorate because they have bought a place and are moving soon. But it was cute. Like many places we've been, including our appt, it had marble floors, which i'm sure are very nice during the summer months. They showed us their patio where monkeys had come and destroyed their balcony (2nd story!) garden, tearing off leaves and breaking pots.We watched a little TV as we ate, took pictures, and talked about the society (sort of a social/neighborhood group) they are in. We didn't leave till after 11:30. At which point i think Dalvir immediately opened his laptop and started working again.

On Friday, Mon Mohan, the Director of FGS HR had us over to their family's appt, which is in the same complex as ours. We had drinks (scotch!) and had appetizers of thai style spring rolls, chips with sprouting lentils and .... tater tots (with tomato sauce). tots were great. i was happy to see them. Good conversation, and yummy food, though one dish had a lot of peppers. Desert (always my fave) of custard with fantastic grapes and oranges as well as Gulab jamun (donuts in syrup) that they get from an indian fast food restaurant!
They showed us around their house including their shrine. Some of the things in the shrine had LEDs that blinked. I don't know if I'd call it peaceful, but it was awesome.

With both families the hospitality was amazing. such a welcome change to the eating out routine.
And for a different perspective on the same night out John's post . He has the names and everything!
